#BlogElul Day 21: Change

"Don't even try... things will never #change."

I've heard this too many times to count and have felt discouraged enough at different points in my life to say it a few times myself. But, my dejection never lasts long. You see, I was raised to be a "doer"-- if something's broken, then work hard to fix it; if something's messy, then clean it up; if something seems impossible, then form a fellowship and get it done.

We need to remember that the word "impossible" is a cage that keeps us from reaching our full potentials. We need to reject the idea that there are set limits that define our trajectories as individuals and societies. We can do anything! We just need to believe that we can succeed!

For inspiration, I'll conclude with a favorite quote from Pirke Avot:

"It is not your responsibility to finish the work of perfecting the world, but you are not free to desist from it either." Rabbi Tarfon, Pirke Avot 2:21
