The Power of Our Voices
God of our mothers, our grandmothers, our sisters, our wives, and our daughters...
God of Miriam, Tzipporah, Esther, and Ruth...
God of everyone who has been told that their voice is too high, too grating, too loud...
God of the ones who have not only been counted out but have been systematically shut out...
God who has been shaped and controlled by one group for far too long...
We ask You today to make us like shofars whose calls have the power to shatter silences and awaken multitudes.
We ask You today to fill us with the courage that we need to speak with the power that You have implanted within us.
God, we ask that You make us like Vashti who stood up and raised her voice even though everyone in her world told her to be silent.
Kol Isha. The voice of a woman. Generations have been afraid of its power.
Help us to make sure that the generations to come will experience just how potent our voices can be.
